West Kent Sunday League News Report 31st October  2021

Well, very little to write about this week! Heavy rain and the resulting waterlogged pitches meant that only four games took place, three of them at Tonbridge Farm.

Division One / Two

There were two games played in Division One, both at Tonbridge Farm.

Artois United moved into the top spot with a 5-2 win over Charcott. Lucas Murrain scored four, Taylor Galvin the fifth. Luke French and Jay Pring replied for Charcott.

On the next pitch, Paddock Wood were merciless when they met bottom side AFC Tonbridge. The end result was the biggest win for any team this season : twenty-nil. Simon Hammond scored eleven times, propelling him to the top scorer's place overall in the League. The others were Matt Reed 3, James Humphrey 2, Reece Horseman, Dobrin Vasilev, Phil Abbott and Jack Castle, Joe Castle in the Paddock Wood kept the clean sheet. Paddock Wood join Artois United and Simla at the top, the three being separated only by goal difference. They have though played more games than most of the teams in the Division.

Division Three

Royal Oak go into second place after a 5-2 home win against Artois United Reserves. Their scorers were Ashley Bell with a hat-trick, his third of the season. Also finding the net were Joe Rutland and Liam Keeble.

Brenchley move into third place after beating Tonbridge United in the third game to be played at Tonbridge Farm. Those pitches do have a good reputation for standing up to the rain. A pity there are not more like them.  Brnechley hit United for eight unanswered goals, including a hat-trick for Rich Bridger. There were two from Mike Williams and Conor Williams, plus one from Mark Springate.

An important game is scheduled for next Sunday, when Brenchley will host Sedlescombe Rangers.
