West Kent Sunday League News Report –
Sunday 20th March 2022
WKSFL Senior Cup
TW Ridgewaye were unable
to raise a team to fulfil their fixture with Artois United. The League has
re-arranged the group match TW Ridgwaye and AFC Valour for next
week. As the table below shows, a win or draw for Valour will put
them into the second round, but a clear two goal win for Ridgewaye
could put them through as one of the better third placed
teams. Goudhurst United in group two finished their games
with three points and -3 goal difference.

WKSFL Junior Cup
One of two remaining first round ties was played between Dunton Green and Tonbridge United. It was narrow
3-2 victory for United, thanks to goals by Sean Longman, Matt
Funnell and Harry Bamblett. United have lost only one of their last
five games, a welcome improvement after having not had a win in the
previous eighteen! Brad and Ben Clive scored Dunton Green's goals.
United now go through to meet AFC Borough Reserves in the second
round

Division One
Simla and Artois United will meet next
Sunday in the proverbial six-pointer. A win would surely give Simla
one hand on the trophy, defeat will bring Artois level on points
with a game in hand. Artois won the reverse fixture 4-0, a good game
is in prospect.
Simla continued winning ways
with a two-nil defeat of Paddock
Wood, Bal Maher and Luke Leppard scoring. Its
fourteen wins in succession for Simla and six games now since they
last conceded a goal. Joe Cullipp, the regular goalkeeper, has now
kept ten clean sheets this season and leads the league in that
department. Maher and Leppard are joint top of the Division One
goalscorers chart with 32 for the season. Ollie Sugden of Artois
United Reserves (Div 3) also has 32.
Pembury Sunday are not out
of the picture. Any slip-up by those above could let them into
the frame. For them it is now eleven wins on the trot in League and
Cup after a 4-1 win at home to AFC
Valour, in which Lewis Salter scored twice, Tom Price and
Charlie Johns were the other goalscorers. Next Sunday they go to
Charcott.

Division Two
AFC Borough have a clear
lead after beating closest rivals Odukwe
2-1 thanks to Sam Edmunds and George Holman.
Dormansland Rockets edged
out Goudhurst United 4-3 to
keep up the pressure for second spot. It was a hard fought game.
Due to the vagaries of Sunday football, Rockets had three new
signings all making their debuts. But it was Goudhurst who took the
lead following a shot when the Rockets keeper made a misjudgement
when coming out of his goal. Miguel Figuera-Dunne equalised from the
spot for Rockets.
He also supplied a fine second goal. Rockets other scorers were Dave
Read, one of the afore mentioned debut makers and the winner came
from Ollie Whitefoot.
Goudhurst are in run of only one win in eight games. Fifteen
different players have scored for them this season, Sunday's
marksmen were Will Mantle, Michael Peevor and John Bartram.

Division Three
Sedlescombe Rangers took
over at the top, scoring ten against Riverside Colts. Alvin Scott hit a hat-trick,
his fourth of the season, Luke Brundle and Jake Thomas both scored
twice, Zak Boutwood, Bradley Pritchard and Zack McEniry scored once.
They didn't have it all their own way, Colts scoring three in reply.
Insulators Reserves and Royal Oak played out a 1-1 draw,
which did neither of them a favour. After last week's defeat by
Brenchley Insulators needed to be competitive against a strong Royal
Oak. It didn't start well as the away side took a 7th minute
lead with a fairly soft goal from a corner, Neil Walker
getting the credit. Royal Oak continued in the ascendency for the
early part of the game. Gradually, Insulators gained a foothold with
some excellent passing and movement.. However, they were still
losing at the break.
The second half saw the home side begin to create some decent
chances and it was a deserved equaliser from Toby Gandell (his first
for the club) with a shot inside the area. Although Royal Oak
remained strong and had half chances of their own, it was Insulators
that finished the stronger but were unable to find a winner. Credit
to both sides and referee Conrad Barker.
There was another 1-1 draw, between Speldhurst Rangers and Ticehurst
Village. Ticehurst took the lead after one of the most Speldhurst
things to ever happen at the Rec. Greg Gamm took a heavy touch and
laced a backpass to Baldwin in goal,l which came off the post.
Baldwin saved the initial shot which rebounded out to Ticehurst's
Shane Bumstead, who slotted home. Rangers equalised in the second
half through Ollie Crees from a set piece. Both teams had chances to
win but couldn't take them
Brenchley were denied the
chance to keep up with the top two when Westerham cried off, citing lack of available
players. The Management Committee will rule on this situation.
Brenchley have already had nine points 'gifted', with opponents not
fulfilling fixtures.
Moving into fourth spot are TW
Ridgewaye Reserves, with their sixth successive win. Latest
victims were Artois United
Reserves, defeated 2-0 with the goals from Dan Thomas and
Billy Mcleod.
AFC Borough Reserves up and
down season had an up on Sunday, when they beat AFC Tonbridge 9-2. There
were two hat-tricks,by Matt Pickett and Nick Jones. There also
single goals from Todd Pannell, Sean Munro and Freddie Simmons. AFC
Tonbridge scorers were Alex Wooster and Reece Porter.
