West Kent Sunday League News Report – Sunday 20th February 2022

Storm Eunice made her mark across the county on Friday and Saturday. The ensuing damage and rain resulted in all but three of Sunday's games being called off.

WKSFL Senior Cup

Insulators 3 Paddock Wood 8

Paddock Wood started strongly and regularly breached the home side's offside trap. In the 13th minute they took a deserved lead. Insulators sprang into life and Ben Boodle was very close to equalising a few minutes later. In the 18th minute Insulators lost possession in a dangerous area and a decent cross was converted. Hoping to get through to half time with no further damage it was an unfortunate own goal from a corner that made it 0-3 at the break. (Paddock Wood have credited the goal to of their playes.)

Despite a reasonable start to the second half, the game became a procession with three Paddock Wood goals between the 60th and 70th minutes. 'Slators then showed some pride and belief and played their best football of the match. Kane Ramsell pulled one back from the penalty spot. The same player then hit the post leaving Ben Boodle and easy tap in. Boodle then scored again to make it 3-6. Could an unlikely comeback be on? No! Another Insulators chance was missed before Paddock Wood scored twice again near the end.

The full list of Paddock Wood scorers was Simon Hammond 3 (his fifth hat-trick of the season), Matt Mitchell, Jason Bourne,  Sean Bodle, Lee Chapman and Matt Reed.

In Group 3 Charcott beat AFC Borough 3-2 at Goldsmith's, their goals coming from Jools Walker (2) and Harry Holder.  Jacob Feasey and Sam Edmunds scored for the Borough

Division Three

Tonbridge United 1 Insulators Reserves 9

After the storm of Friday and the one brewing for Sunday, it was a great effort from the crew at Tonbridge Farm to ensure that the game of Tonbridge United versus Insulators could go ahead.

It was certainly blowing a gale and the opening exchanges saw both teams struggling to get the hang of the conditions, with few chances at both ends and a lot of long balls being picked up by the goalkeepers.

Insulators started to get a foothold and after a couple of smart saves from the United ´keeper the deadlock was finally broken on thirty minutes as a Harry Mascall shot took a deflection on its way into the bottom corner.  A change of formation saw Insulators´ dominance pay as Bailey Wright scored with his first touch of the game on 38 minutes with a fine finish into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. The floodgates opened with two goals for Jacob Pingault making it 4 -0  to Insulators at half time

Insulators smelt blood and Pingault completed his hat trick on 51 minutes finely assisted by Harry Mascall. Mascall continued his run of assists as Wright scored his second on 58 minutes and he too completed a hat trick (his second in his last two games, despite starting both games on the bench) on 65 minutes with Dan Green picking up his second assist of the game. Mascall then picked up his second goal of the game after a great ball from Jake Freeman before Tonbridge United's Harry Bamblett  scored from 35 yards out to pick up a consolation goal on 85 minutes. There was still time for Insultors to get their ninth goal of the game as Harry Mascall capped off a fine individual performance with his hat trick goal in the dying minutes of the game

After what feels like an age, Insulators Reserves finally have a home game next week against promotion rivals AFC Borough Reserves so lets hope the weather stays kind this week and pitches recover in time
