West Kent Sunday League News Report –
Sunday 3rd April 2022
We are coming into the business end of the season with issues at the
top of Divisions One, Two and Three far from being resolved. The cup
competitions are now getting under way, the finals are booked at
Rusthall FC (Intermediate and Junior Cups) and Tunbridge Wells FC
for the Senior Cup. Congratulations are due to Dormansland Rockets
FC, who have reached the final of the Surrey Sunday Lower Junior
Cup.
Useless fact - for the second Sunday running and for only the third
time this season no hat-tricks were scored!
There will be a Management Committee meeting this evening (Monday
4th) at which decisions will be made concerning recent unplayed
matches. There will therefore be an update to this report, also the
tables, on Tuesday.
Surrey Sunday Lower Junior Cup
Rich Wetton scored both the goals that took Dormansland Rockets
to the final. They had a trip to Effingham, near Leatherhead, to
play F&M United.
WKSFL Senior Cup
There was one second round (quarter-final) match in which Charcott
overcame AFC Valour 3-0, the goals being scored by Max Chivers, Luke
French and Sam Richardson. The other three second round matches will
be played over the next two weekends.
WKSFL Junior Cup
AFC Borough Reserves and Artois United Reserves are through to the
semi-finals. AFC Borough Reserves were given a good game by
Tonbridge United, but two goals from Matt Pickett and one from Ed
Handford saw them winners 3-1. Harry Bamblett scored for United.
The two League games between Artois United and Sedlescombe Rangers
produced a 2-2 draw and a 4-3 win for Sedlescombe, but Sunday's cup
tie was a very one sided affair, with Artois United Reserves winning
5-1. Leading scorer Ollie Sugden added two to his count. He now has
34 for the season in League and Cup. Also scoring were Alfie Owen,
Dan Edmonton and Alex Webster. Bradley Pritchard replied with what
can only have been a consolation.
Division One
The table below speaks for itself. With two games to play, the top
three are separated by just two points. Pembury Sunday and Artois
United played out a 1-1 draw, when either would have dearly wanted
the extra two points a win would have given. Scott Moran scored for
Pembury, Regan Corke for Artois.
Phase Two - each team plays the others once
points and goals carried forward from phase 1

Division Two
Odukwe are hot on the heels of AFC Borough after a narrow 3-2 win
against Goudhurst United. Their chase must take a back seat next
week, with the Intermediate Cup taking priority. Steve
Peach and David Denton scored for Goudhurst. I do not have Odukwe's
goalscorers.
The scheduled match between AFC Borough and TW Ridgewaye did not
take place. There will be a Management Committee ruling at the
meeting on Monday night. This table will be updated in due course

Division Three
Brenchley had won only one of their previous five matches when they
faced TW Ridgewaye Reserves, who had won their previous seven.
Perhaps the 4-2 win for Brenchley was a bit of a surprise. Paul
Smith, Dan Fogg, Mike Williams and an own goal kept them on track
for at least the runner-up spot. Billy Mcleod and Dom Lambert
scored for Ridgewaye, who are now out of the race barring some very
unlikely turns of events.
Royal Oak have a lot of ground to make up with their cup run having
put League fixtures on hold. They did themselves no harm with a 5-2
win at Ticehurst Village, with goals from Luke Graham, Dan Lazell,
Matt Hill, Josh Harris and asb yet one unknown. For Ticehurst,
their up and down form continues. Their two goals on Sunday were
scored by Leon Fisher and Jason Marsh.
Speldhurst Rangers made it three games without defeat and a quick
double over Riverside Colts, having played and beaten them the week
before. On Sunday it was 2-0 to Rangers. Speldhurst dug deep to
grind out the win. Perry Pointing bottled a toe punt and only
side-footed a penalty. Andreas Theodorou scored late on to secure a
win for Speldhurst. It was their first clean sheet of the
season!
The Management Committee awarded Brenchley three points in respect
of a recently unplayed fixture. They rise to second place in the
adjusted table below.
