West Kent Sunday League News Report Sunday 11th February 2018

Continuing wet weather made most pitches unfit, only three games were played.

Kent Sunday Premier Cup Quarter Final

Artois United's trip to meet Rainham 84 Sunday was one that fell foul of the weather. They will try again next Sunday if it stops raining.

Two Quarter Finals were played, going through to the semi finals will be Fisherman's Arms of the Maidstone and Mid Kent Sunday League, also Drink Warehouse FC (now there's a name!) of the Miles & Barr Thanet Sunday Football League League. The other outstanding quarter-final is between Bradstow Albion (who beat Simla in the fourth round) and holders Quested.

Division One

The only game that survived was Green Lane's visit to Tonbridge Farm where they met Tonbridge Origin. The outcome was a 4-0 win for the Lane, who move up into second place. The scorers included Tom Welch, whose goal puts him ahead of all in the Top Goalscorers's chart with 21 to his name this season. Also on the scoresheet was James Doanldson with a pair, plus an un-named Origin player who put through his own goal. The Lane's 'keeper Marc Yeung kept his sixth clean sheet of the season and he leads overall in that department.

Division Two

The sole game in Division Two had Green Street Blues consolidate their position at the top of the table with a 6-0 thumping of Brenchley.  Leading scorer Ash Birchruffel started the scoring, Yannick Tchoundjin continued and there were two apiece from Shaun Boyle and Jack Edmeads. Another clean sheet for Nick Edwards takes his total to four this season. Next week, Division Two may see its first double header of the season, but only if the rain stops, when Royal Oak are due to meet FC Grinstead. Both teams are desperately behind with their matches.

Division Three

Creative and intelligent thinking by all concerned switched the Paddock Wood Reserves v Tonbridge Origin Reserves match from the watery wastes of Paddock Wood to the pitches at Tonbridge Farm, which seem to be able to cope with most weathers.

Origin's Reserves made up for a couple of recent defeats with a good 3-1 win over Paddock Wood Reserves who, last week apart, are starting to show signs of improvement. Two of Origin's goals were scored by Ben Holder, the third by an anonymous vistor into his own net. Lee Gower replied for the Wood.
