West Kent Sunday League Report – Sunday 30th April 2017
With the League's four Divisions now complete, attention turns to the
final stages of the WKSFL cup competitions. The Intermediate and Junior
Cup Finals both took place at Crowborough Community Stadium. The related pictures have been deleted.
WKSFL Intermediate Cup Final
Gardener's Arms capped a memorable season with a 4-0 win over Pembury
Sunday. They added the Intermediate Cup Trophy to the Division Two Champions
award. A hat-trick from top goalscorer Karl Smith, his third of the
season, included a penalty. John Sinclair scored the fourth. Ben
Carter's most clean sheets trophy will be added to the collection at the League Presentations on
Friday night. He kept his 13th shut-out of the season. Overall,
Gardener's season record reads :PL 24, W 20, Drawn 3 Lost 1 Goals scored
88 goals conceded 15. And there were two other clean sheets with Smith
in goal deputising when Carter was injured!
WKSFL Junior Cup Final
FC Grinstead, Division Four Runner's up, excelled themselves to win the
Junior Cup with a narrow 2-1 win against Division Three winners
Bricklayer's Arms. Charlie Barwell scored both goals for FC Grinstead,
countering the strike by Dan Lawrence for the Bricks.
WKSFL Spring Cup Senior Section Semi Final
Artois
United will meet arch-rivals Simla in the final of the WKSFL Spring Cup
Senior section on May 14th. They made comletely sure of it by crushing
Brenchley 8-1 at the Memorial Ground. A long list of goalscorers is
headed by a brace from Tim Maynard. Add to that single goals by Jake
Miller, Jack Funnell, Alfie Hall, Josh Marshall, Ayrton Phillips and
Connor Morrow. Brenchley's consolation strike was by Mike Williams.
