WKSFL Intermediate Cup
The three first round matches all took place.
Crowborough Town's good form at the head of Division Three did not match the powerful Division Two Gardener's Arms side.
Although Town gave it their best effort, the gap between the top of
Division Two and the top of Division Three was very apparent throughout
the game.
The visitors were a few regulars missing, but the players who stepped
into the starting line up proved the club's strength in depth - at least
for a Division Three side. There were chances at both ends for the
first thirty minutes but neither side could find the net, then with half
time looming Gardeners upped their game to rattle in four goals in
quick succession. Aaron Austin, Lee Cooper and couple from Brad Moon
improved Gardener's mood at half time.
Half Time : Gardeners Arms 4 - 0 Crowborough Town
Although the home side had most of the possession after the restart,
Crowborough dug deep and managed to keep a second half clean
sheet. Chances went begging, the visitors defence gave their all,
and perhaps, at times rode their luck. All-in-all an encouraging
performance by Town but they'll be happy to return to Division Three
action next Sunday. Gardener's 'keeper Ben Carter kept his third clean
sheet of the season and he now leads the way in that department.
Green Lane disposed of Hadlow Hornets
7-0 at Williams Field. There were seven different scorers , namely
Robert Montandon, James Knight, James Donaldson, Matt Brown, Josh
Harris, Josh Turnham-Scott and Mr own goal. Martyn Taylor kept the clean
sheet, his side's first of the season.
Bricklayer's Arms gave their higher ranked opponents Cassidy's Phoenix
a good run for their money, taking the tie to extra time. But it was
the Phoenix that rose, winning 2-1 at the end of the extra period.
After a goal-less first half, Rob Hicklin opened the scoring for
Bricklayer's Arms with a well executed shot from a low free kick
delivered by Simon Munday. The lead only lasted five minutes as a
wayward leg from Hicklin conceded a penalty. Ollie Muggeridge scored
it, one- all. Both teams had chances late in the second half but
none were converted so extra time was called for. Both teams battled
well in the first fifteen minute period but there were still no goals. A
few minutes into the second period of extra time, a brief slip in
Brick's concentration let Cassidy's striker Alberto Fernandez through on
goal and he finished coolly off the post

Division One
Insulators and Tonbridge Origin
fought a 3-3 draw at the Memorial Ground, when a win for either side
would have seen them go three points clear at the top of table. Martin
Page-Mitchell scored all three for the Insulators. Scorers for Tonbridge
Origin were Rob Harman,
Jimmy Shepherd and an own goal.
Artois United gained some ground on the leaders with a 10-1 demolition of Dormansland Rockets. No details about the game have been received.
Blackham & Ashurst secured their first league win of the season, winning 2-1 at Armada. Steve Rivore and Mike Hodges scored the vital goals. Tom Vivian scored from the spot for the hosts.

Division Two
There were only two games with most sides engaged in cup ties.
Brenchley won their first game of the season and in some style, beating Hawkenbury Sunday
4-0. Tom Lowe's hat-trick was the feature of the morning, the fourth
Brenchley goal was scored by Dan Woods. Rob Best in goal kept the clean
sheet.
Pembury Sunday got their League season going again, also with a 4-0 win, this time over at Ashurst against Langton Green. Scorers were Steve Harper, Mark Wyles, Marc Chappel and Tommy Philpott. Charlton Farrell had the clean sheet in goal.

Division Three
With Crowborough Town busy in the Intermediate Cup, Tonbridge Invicta would have had high hopes of gaining top spot from their visit to lowly Ticehurst Village Club.
But it was not to be! The Club's first win of the League season,
2-1, came as a result of a penalty scored by Calvin Bull and a
goal from Ben Evans. Sam Wyles scored for Invicta, who were no doubt
rather disappointed on their long trip home.
A narrow win in a nine goal affair at the Hilbert takes St John's Yard into third place. it was their second win in a row after a fairly bleak start to the season and it came as a 5-4 win against Rusthall Club Athletic.
The Club took an early lead and were two up after twenty minutes. The
Yard rallied and it was level 2-2 at half time. Back came the Club
and they regained a two goal lead in the opening minutes of the second
half. But the Yard were not be denied and three unanswered goals made
the final score to 5-4.
The scorers tally reads : St John's Yard - Dan Hunter (2), James Moore,
Lewis Stack and an own goal. For the Club, Adam Saunders (2), James
Scott and Jamie Law.
Paddock Wood Reserves had little trouble beating bottom side Speldhurst Rangers
4-1 thanks to a hat-trick by Phil Abbott. Harley Bishop scored the
other. For Rangers, recently arrived in the morning from Madrid and
overseas legend Richard Oddy provided a highlight in what was a game of
very poor finishing from his side, by shanking his shot into the
top corner of the goal after looping throw-in. His Alan Shearer-esque
turn away took eyes away from his bright orange boots.

Division Four
I don't know what AFC Six in One
have done to football, there have been 49 goals scored for or against
in their six League games so far, that's an average of 8.167 per game.
Their latest goal fest came at their visit to TW Forester's Reserves.
Eleven goals were scored, including hat-tricks from Foresters' Dean
Squires and Six's Ryan Smith. Jeff Harrison and Jake Smith also scored
for Foresters, but Six in One outdid them to win 6-5 thanks to more
goals from Ben Boodle (2) and one from Jason Carver.
Goals galore too at Goldsmith's, where FC Hayward took a clear lead at the top of the table after crushing TW Ridgewaye
9-0. Now the league's top scorer, Dave Fowler scored four, Jay Skilton
weighed in with two, Gavin Hawes and Alex Davies with one each. The
ninth was credited as an own goal. Ash Cook kept his goal intact.
Insulators Reserves remain in third place after a 3-0 win at Tonbridge United.
Reece Beecroft, Carl Worden and Lewis Disbury were the names on the
scoresheet. The the successful goalie was Grant Leslie, it was his first shut-out of the season.
Tonbridge Origin Reserves collected their first league win, to follow last week's Junior Cup success against Hadlow United. FC Grinstead
were the victims, the result being a 3-2 win for Origin with the goals
coming from Steve Whitear plus two from Alex Williamson. Connor Tobin
scored yet again for Grinstead, Mick Neatherway got the other.
Finally, Tonbridge Casuals and Hadlow United
played out that rarest of events in this League, a goal-less draw.
(There were only two across all four Divisions in the whole of last season.) Pete Krauhaus of
Casuals and Liam Gillmore of United were the two 'keepers concerned.
