Surrey Lower Junior Cup Second Round

WKSFL Senior Cup Second Round

Four ties took place, all went more or less with the form book.  It was a lacklustre first half from Simla in their tie against Division Two Langton Green, but they still managed to come off with a 1 - 0 lead with a goal from Ian Parsons. It was a much better performance from Simla in the second half with four further goals, one each from Jon Lord, Ian Parsons, David Blundell and Bayley Colbran making the final score 5-0. Joe Cullipp was the successful clean sheet 'keeper.

Rusthall Rangers have been struggling on and off the field recently, but overcame their difficulties with a 3-1 win at Division Two side Hawkenbury Sunday. Reece Horseman, Lewis Inglis and with a penalty Justin Tottle put Rangers in command. Luke Graham scored Hawk's only reply.

Brenchley, of Division Two no doubt put up a good fight against Division One's Blackham & Ashurst, but fell 2-1 at home. Their top marksman Tom Lowe scored, but for the visitors goals by Anthony Clark and Stevan Rivore sealed the tie.

Tonbridge Origin and Insulators drew 3-3 in the League a month ago, but this time Origin ran out clear winners by a 4-1 margin. Their top scorer Myles Lowden hit three, Alan Page added the fourth. Insulators had gone one down at half time, then three-nil down before Ben Manser pulled one back, Origin thoroughly deserved their win, said Insulator's boss Andy Stanley..

SE Spitfires were unable to raise a team to face Artois United and thus forfeit the tie.

WKSFL Intermediate Cup Second Round

One tie was scheduled in advance of most, which take place next Sunday. Gardener's Arms made it four wins on the trot in League and cup with a 3-0 defeat of Cassidy's Phoenix. Phil Cramp scored twice, Kane Joseph once and in goal Ben Carter kept his fifth clean sheet of the season and leads the WKSFL in that department.

Rusthall Club Athletic kept up their recent run of good form in a delayed first Round Tie, in which they beat Paddock Wood Reserves 5-2. Goals came from Adam Saunders (2), Dave Waters, Ryan Dilnot and Gary McCafferty.  Paddock Wood's scorers were Grant Allen and Ollie Leigh. The Club will host Tonbridge Origin Reserves in the second round next week.

In the Second Round, there was the usual ridiculous number of goals in a game involving AFC Six in One. Ten this time, when they overcame St John's Yard 7-3. At one point in the first half, St John's Yard were 3-2 up, having scored through Dan Reeve, Dan Hunter and Rory Wilson. Secretary Tony Vanns didn't know what to say about the subsequent collapse. AFC Six in One do have the league's leading goalscorer in Ryan Smith, which might have something to do with it! He hit a hat-trick to bring his season's tally to 24. Dave Cherry scored two, also there were goals from Elliott King and Ben Boodle, who has himself scored fourteen this season. Eighty-six goals have been scored in their ten WKSFL competition games so far, which anyone can see is 8.6 per match! Oddly, they have won only once at home this season.

The same number were scored at Goldsmith's, where FC Grinstead beat their hosts FC Hayward by the same score, 7-3. Charly Harris top scored for the visitors with a hat-trick, the others came through Joe Moulding, Luke Boakes, Connor Tobin and Mike Parr.  FC Hayward's scorers were Dave Fowler with two and Guillermo Traverse.

Insulators Reserves have lost only once this season in their Division Four matches and showed their good form with a useful 6-1 win at home to Division Three's Tonbridge Invicta.  Ben Johnson scored two, and there were single strikes from Reece Beecroft, Martin Sturtivant, Rob Pollard and Fabian Fernandez. Invicta's consolation was scored by Cameron Dunbar.

There was a close game at Chequer Field where TW Ridgewaye bounced back after last Sunday's unfortunate events to beat Goudhurst United Reserves 2-1. Scott Beasley and Matt Wicks were the scorers, Stuart Andrews replied for United.

Tonbridge United (Div 4) fell at home to Bricklayer's Arms (Div 3), whose superior status was underlined with a 5-0 win at Tonbridge Farm. The Bricks started all guns blazing with chance after chance in the first 15 minutes until finally a well delivered cross from Sam Harris reached Craig Bishop,  who headed across goal beating the keeper .il
After this the Bricks retained possession through out the half but failed to create too many more chances. It stayed 1-0 at the break.

The second half began and within five minutes the Bricks were to find the net again with a well delivered corner from Terry Harman finding Danny Lawrence to head home. Craig Bishop bagged the third. With the Bricks still creating lots of chances, James Bodkin volleyed home from the edge of the box to make it four. Finally Danny Lawrence slotted home for the fifth. A joint clean sheet in goal for Terry Harman and Dan Papper, replacing the missing Alex Gunn.

Unfortunately two ties were forfeited. Speldhurst Rangers, hit by injuries and absences, were unable to meet TW Foresters Reserves. Ticehurst Village Club were likewise unable to fulfill their fixture with Crowborough Town.
